My preferred reservation isn’t available, can I still make a booking?

Please email us via [email protected] if your preferred time isn't available online and we'll aim to help. If your preferred dining space is unavailable, consider booking one of our other dining spaces. 

Can I pre-pay for my event?

Corporate & VIP prepaid group bookings are available for large groups and peak periods like the pre-Christmas party season. Enquire with our events team or complete an order form HERE.

I want to make a group booking, do I need to pay a deposit?

We get it, sometimes you just want to keep things casual. We offer free reservations for up to 20 guests via our online booking system outside of peak party season. 

​Free online bookings allow 1 hour for weekday lunches (between 12-3pm) or 2-hour timeframe for afternoon or evenings arriving between 3pm and 7pm. Tables are not usually rebooked beyond 8:30pm so later arrivals are welcome to stay late.  Extended timeframes are subject to availability and allocated around other prepaid groups that must be prioritised. We will aim to find a space for you if your table is rebooked.

Our online booking system will indicate if a prepayment is required for your preferred date, package or group size. Or if particular dates are too far in advance to book online. If in doubt always feel free to contact us and our team will happily help find the right space and option for you.

Do you offer split bills?

You can start a tab at the bar on the day and order from the bar menu as you go. Your guests can also order individually at the bar. 

I’m booking for a special occasion, can I organise a speech?

All non-exclusive bookings are within an open-plan public bar and best suited to celebrations based around sharing good food & drinks in good company. Therefore we cannot allow formalities and activities like speeches, team building, trivia, or signage and certain decorations as they can cause disruption to other customers. 

If your plans include special set up, formalities or activities other than drinking and dining, please ask about private function room hire, which we are happy to help with. This is not otherwise possible within the public bar.

Can I bring decorations?

Please check with our reservations team before planning decorations for your booking. Small-scale items like a floor-weighted number balloon, a bunch of flowers or Christmas crackers are usually OK, but being an open-plan public bar with an open-air section, there are limitations on what is possible. Large-scale items like balloon garlands, photo walls etc are only appropriate for exclusively hired event spaces.

Does The Shelbourne have its own parking?

Parking is not available on-site, however, there is a secure Wilson Car Park located next door at 204 Sussex St with after-hours and weekend rates that can be checked or booked online here: Wilson CitiPark

How do I get there?

Train & Bus services are available from Town Hall and Wynyard stations. Both are located within an easy 5-minute walk.

A Taxi rank is located directly across the road on Sussex St.

Uber drivers can best pick up or drop off near the driveway at 200 Sussex St or on Kent St.

Does The Shelbourne have a loading zone?

A 20-minute loading zone is available directly beneath the venue via a driveway at 200 Sussex Street.

Bookings are required in advance for function clients and their suppliers.  Please speak to your function consultant on (02)92673100 to schedule an access time prior to confirming deliveries with third-party suppliers.
