FAQs - Visiting Us

  • The Shelbourne Hotel is at 200 Sussex Street, Sydney CBD NSW 2000, on the corner of Market Street beside the Pyrmont Footbridge overlooking Darling Harbour. We are a 5-minute walk from both Town Hall and Wynyard stations.

  • We are open Monday 10am to 10pm, Tuesday 10am to 11pm, Wednesday and Thursday 10am to midnight, and Friday and Saturday 10am to 1am. The venue is closed on Sundays but can open for special events by arrangement. The Rooftop is open Wednesday to Saturday from midday.

  • Town Hall and Wynyard stations are both within an easy 5-minute walk. A taxi rank is located directly across Sussex Street. Uber drivers can pick up or drop off near the driveway at 200 Sussex Street or on Kent Street. The new Metro has a stop at Barangaroo. And don’t forget the Ferry - at King St Wharf, Darling Harbour.

  • There is no on-site parking. Wilson CitiPark is next door at 204 Sussex Street with after-hours and weekend rates. A 20-minute loading zone is available beneath the venue via the driveway at 200 Sussex Street for function deliveries with prior arrangement.

  • Yes, all levels of the venue are wheelchair accessible via the lift. The accessible entrance is on Market Street.

FAQs - Bookings, Functions and Events

  • Yes. We have multiple function spaces: The Rooftop (120 to 300 cocktail, 50 to 150 seated), LinQ Bar and Restaurant (30 to 200 cocktail, up to 100 seated), Market Street Garden Bar (up to 500 cocktail, up to 150 seated), and full venue hire for up to 1,100 guests cocktail style. We host corporate events, Christmas parties, birthdays, engagement parties, hens parties and more. Submit an enquiry at shelbournehotel.com.au/function-enquiry.

  • Free reservations for up to 20 guests are available through our online booking system outside of peak party season. Free bookings allow 1 hour for weekday lunches (12pm to 3pm) or a 2-hour timeframe for afternoon or evening arrivals between 3pm and 7pm. Corporate and VIP prepaid group bookings are available for large groups and peak periods such as the pre-Christmas party season.

  • Small-scale decorations like a floor-weighted number balloon, flowers or Christmas crackers are usually fine in the public bar area. Larger items such as balloon garlands or photo walls are only appropriate for exclusively hired event spaces. Please check with our reservations team before planning decorations for your booking.

  • The Rooftop at the Shelbourne Hotel is one of Sydney CBD's largest rooftop venues, accommodating 120 to 300 guests with an all-weather retractable roof and views over Darling Harbour. The Rooftop has been operating since 1902 as part of the Shelbourne Hotel and is open Wednesday to Saturday from midday.

FAQs - Food, Drink and Experiences

  • Yes. We offer Bottomless Bubbles packages from $79 per person, available from 7pm every Thursday and Friday and from 12pm every Saturday at The Rooftop. We also host themed bottomless brunch events throughout the year - check the What's On page for upcoming dates.

  • We run a range of specials including Shelly Hour (Monday to Saturday, 2pm to 4pm), $20 daily food specials (12pm to 9pm), 3 bar plates for $40 (from 3pm daily) and Bottomless Bubbles packages from $79 per person. Check our What's On page for current specials and seasonal promotions.

  • Yes. We operate MV Enterprise, a private luxury Sydney Harbour boat charter catering for up to 30 guests. The vessel is ideal for corporate entertaining, exclusive celebrations and luxury outings, with superb food and personalised service delivered by a professional crew.

  • The Shelbourne Hotel has separate menus for each venue. The Rooftop All Day Menu features salads, mains, pizza, bar plates and sides, available all day Wednesday through Saturday at the rooftop bar. The Market Street Garden Bar offers its own seasonal all-day menu at street level. Both menus are available on our website, or in print at the venue. For dietary requirements, look for the (gf), (df), (v), (ve) and (cve) markers next to each item.

  • Yes. For large groups and exclusive use bookings at the Shelbourne Hotel, we offer a pre-order option to streamline service and ensure your group is catered for promptly. The pre-order form is available via our group booking page. Pre-ordering is recommended for groups of 20 or more, particularly during peak periods like the pre-Christmas function season.
